The Body Shop Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate Review

The facial serum is an integral part of my skincare regimen. My skin has been behaving so well ever since I incorporated it into my beauty routine! Today I am reviewing Edelweiss daily serum concentrate from the house of The Body Shop. Is my combination skin impressed by this vegan, paraben-free serum? To know, keep reading.

The Body Shop Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate Review:

The Body Shop Edelweiss daily serum concentrate is the improved version of their earlier Drops of Youth™ Concentrate.

The brand says, made with 99% ingredients of natural origin, it only takes a few drops of our new Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate to leave skin looking smoother, fresher, stronger* and plumped with 24hr moisture. This light, non-sticky, fast-absorbing formula also forms an invisible layer over your skin to help protect it from indoor and outdoor pollution (perfect for all you city types), which can lead to dehydration, dullness and premature skin ageing.

About Edelweiss – the hero ingredient:

This pollution-clearing facial cleanser belongs to the brand’s Edelweiss range. But what is Edelweiss, and how does it benefit our skin? I researched it and found this information on the brand’s page.

Edelweiss is a rare mountain flower that grows in Alpine environments. It’s only found at very high altitudes, between 1500 and 3000m, where it defies extreme environmental conditions, including strong winds, frost, and volatile temperatures.

It produces its own antioxidant, called leontopodic acid and it is this antioxidant that allows the flower to protect itself from harsh environmental aggressors, helping it to survive and thrive on the mountainside. Around 80% of the daily damage that our skin goes through is caused by environmental aggressors like pollution, gases and dust particles. Daily exposure to these aggressors can take a toll on the complexion, causing skin to feel dry, dull and sapped of vibrance. Since this tiny flower is such a master of resilience, we made it the superstar ingredient in our Edelweiss range. What’s more, our new edelweiss extract has been proven to be more powerful than well-known antioxidants on the market such as retinol.

Directions:

Smooth on a few drops every day and you’ll have that fresh-faced, post-lie-in, pre-commute, healthy-looking glow in no time!

My Experience With The Body Shop Edelweiss Serum Concentrate (Review):

(Skin type: Combination, Dehydrated, Acne-prone & Sensitive)

At first, I received a tiny 10ml Edelweiss serum as a freebie with my purchase at The Body Shop outlet, Oxford Street. Again after a few months, I received the same serum (the full-size one) as a PR sample from the brand with their other products. After finishing the sample bottle, I started using the full-size one. By the way, I reviewed its partner from the same range, Edelweiss cleanser, on my blog a few days back. You can read it here

Packaging:

The Body Shop Edelweiss serum concentrate comes in a deep green colored glass bottle with a dropper. The packaging is recyclable and has all the product-related details. The 10ml serum sample accompanied me during my recent India trip. There was no leakage issue, thankfully.

Texture:

The Body Shop Edelweiss serum concentrate has a transparent, gel texture, almost like glycerine. It has a sweet, subtle scent that doesn’t last long post-application.

How I use Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate?

After cleansing my skin with a face wash, I spray my hydrating face mist all over my skin. After a few seconds, I apply two drops of this Edelweiss serum directly to my slightly damp cheeks and neck. You can also squeeze 2-3 drops of it into your hand and apply it to your skin. But I find direct application with the help of a dropper more convenient and neat (I keep the dropper a bit away from my skin). Then I press the serum gently with an open palm and leave it for a minute before applying my hydrating moisturizer

What it does? Is This Serum Concentrate Effective?

This Edelweiss serum has a medium consistency, neither too thick nor too runny! Hence, when you apply it to your skin, it doesn’t run down your face. You get the time to work with it, which I like. I also love its non-greasy watery formula that sinks into the skin quickly, leaving my face plumper and smoother yet non-sticky. Remember, all well-formulated serums get absorbed into the skin fast and instantly disappear, just like this one ❤️.

The Body Shop Edelweiss serum concentrate is composed of some lovely and icky ingredients. For instance, it has Alcohol Denat, ranking  5th in the ingredient list! I don’t prefer alcohol-based products for my combination-dry skin 😒. It also contains fragrance/parfum! Therefore, read the ingredients and their functions carefully before purchasing this serum, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergy issues (check above Ing. section). Aside from these two, the Edelweiss serum is powered by all nourishing, anti-acne and antioxidant components with natural sunscreen😍.

Despite containing alcohol, it never dries out my skin. Instead, it leaves my skin looking healthy, soft, and luminous! It also pairs well with all my nourishing moisturizers. I didn’t experience any irritations or breakouts with The Body Shop Edelweiss serum concentrate. I’ve not used its previous version – Drops of Youth™ Concentrate, hence can’t compare them 😐.

I used this serum both in the hot summer and winter seasons in the UK and India (during my recent trip). The Body Shop® Edelweiss serum concentrate is lightweight and does not clog pores, so it is ideal for oily skin types. During the summer seasons, when my skin felt sweaty and greasy, this light serum did a great job. And, during the colder months, I pair it with a nourishing face mist and heavy-duty moisturizer, and I’m all good 😊 !
