Today I’ll be talking about an alcohol-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free face wash product that I have been using for quite some time. I have super sensitive skin, so I always use cleansing milk or a gentle face wash. So read on to know about Simple kind to skin purifying cleansing lotion for sensitive skin types.

My Take On Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion

(Skin Type: Combination, dehydrated, sensitive & acne-prone)

Ever since I moved to London, my skin has taken a U-turn from combination to completely dry as it was during my teenage days!! I wish I could get back the same teenage skin texture of mine-clear, polished, acne-free skin. Sigh! As my skin texture and type have changed, I needed to include skincare products geared toward dry skin. 

In my quest for finding the best gentle face wash for dry, sensitive skin in London, I stumbled upon this Simple Kind To Skin purifying cleansing lotion at the Boots store. Before purchasing this face wash, I quickly looked at the ingredients list that seemed fine to me compared to the other cleansers available at the store!!

The Packaging & Texture – Look & Feel

Simple kind to skin cleansing lotion comes in a white opaque plastic bottle with a green-colored flip-top cap. The packaging has all the details like ingredients, shelf-life, and usage direction printed on the back. Although the bottle is leakage-proof, its heavyweight (200 ml) makes it a non-travel-friendly product. 

The texture of Simple kind to skin cleansing lotion is super smooth, creamy with a thick consistency. It is free of Parfum (no fragrance), hence great for people with a sensitive nose!

How To Use & What It Does- Performance

To cleanse my skin, I take a generous amount of Simple kind to skin cleansing lotion onto a cotton pad and swipe it over my face and neck in an upward & outward motion. Simple purifying cleansing lotion features no-rinse formula; however, I wash it off! 

I don’t know why I cannot let any no-rinse formula cleansing products sit on my skin forever (be it micellar water or cleansing milk)! Rinsing the skin after using the cleansers gives me mental peace and satisfaction! So, I always wash my face and neck post using it.

I also tried skipping the cotton pads some times and applied this purifying cleanser directly to my skin with my fingertips. Instead of cotton wool, I used my fingertips to slather the cleansing lotion across my face and neck, and with a gentle circular stroke, I massaged my skin until this lotion got absorbed. Then I washed off the cleanser and followed it with La Roche-Posay thermal spring water (as a face mist), The Body Shop Vitamin E serum and Simple moisturizer. It works great this way as well!

Simple kind to skin purifying face wash does a pretty good job removing the dirt and dead skin cells gently without drying it out! I use this face wash twice a day, and it always leaves my skin feel hydrated, clean, and fresh. I don’t have to run for moisturizer post cleansing my skin as the Simple purifying cleanser keeps my skin nourished. Now, that doesn’t mean I always skip moisturizer!! It happened two to three times during the winter season when immediately after washing my skin, I had to rush for some other important work. I completely forgot about applying toner & face lotion afterward. But my skin didn’t feel dry or stretchy without any hydrating moisturizer for 1-2 hours, and that really impressed me!!

Simple kind to skin purifying cleansing lotion has a few goodie soothing skincare ingredients like Bisabolol, Vitamin E, Glycerin, but also contains ingredients with a high comedogenic rating (2-4) such as Isopropyl Palmitate (emollient), Phenoxyethanol (preservative), Sorbitan Stearate (emulsifying agent), etc. However, it didn’t cause any breakouts or irritation, didn’t help diminish the blemishes either!! 

Simple purifying cleansing milk is pretty gentle on the skin, but don’t expect any glow or brightening effect from this product. From my experience, all I can say is this face wash is perfect for dry to combination skin types. Oily-skinned people can use this cleansing lotion in winters when their skin becomes a little dry and craves hydrating products.

Nothing as such! But I wish it could remove the makeup completely and help with my acne issues!

A: Since I purchased this from the BOOTS store, London, I am mentioning the current price, which is featured on their official website. The price for a 200 ml product is £2.53 (as of February 2021).

Q. How and when to use it?

A: You can use SIMPLE cleansing milk in two different ways. The brand recommends using cotton pads to clean the skin. They say just apply the product to cotton wool and sweep over your skin using upwards and outwards movements; this helps to avoid pulling your skin downwards as you cleanse. Wipe the pad all around the face, no need to rub. 

Simple purifying cleansing lotion features no-rinse formula; however, I wash it off! Instead of cotton pads, I use my fingertips at times! I have explained the detailed process above under “MY EXPERIENCE” section, check it out, please.

Q. Does Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion remove makeup?

A: Unfortunately, no! It doesn’t work great at removing the eye or full-face makeup. I use it as my second cleanser after removing my makeup with a separate remover.

Q. Does it have any harmful ingredients?

A. Well, it contains icky ingredients such as Isopropyl Palmitate, an emollient (with an Irritancy, comedogenicity Rating 3-4), Cetearyl Alcohol, emollient, surfactant/cleansing agent (with Irritancy, Comedogenicity rating 1,2). But this cleansing milk contains several skin-friendly goodie ingredients as well! [Source]

But before you buy this product, kindly read the ingredients carefully. You may find some components that you are allergic to, especially if you have severe acne-prone, sensitive skin! Then, don’t get it. Better be safe than sorry. 

Q. SIMPLE Cleansing lotion just broke me out, what to do now?

A: This cleanser didn’t cause me any breakouts! SIMPLE recommends not to wash it off as it has the no-rinse formula. But I always prefer rinsing my skin after using a face wash. So if you are experiencing breakouts due to this product, then wash your face immediately after using this cleansing milk. If still the issue persists, throw this product away! 

Q. What’s the USP of this product?

A: Non-drying, gentle formula! 

Actually, I found two best things about this product –

1) It is true to its claim of being kind to skin (a vegan, cruelty-free brand)

2) It’s purifying yet non-drying fragrance-free formula helps the dry, sensitive skin feel clean, fresh & nourished for a while (don’t skip moisturizer)! Good for all skin types, best suited for DRY SKIN

CONCLUSION:

Simple kind to skin purifying cleansing lotion is the perfect non-drying fragrance-free face wash for dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin that cleanses the skin gently and effectively. Post usage, this cleanser always leaves my skin feel super clean, fresh, and plump! I will continue to purchase this vegan, cruelty-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free cleanser until I find something better for my skin.
