My Visit To SKY 100 Hong Kong Observation Deck

Prior to our departure from Hong Kong, we decided to explore its iconic attractions. The renowned Sky 100, the city’s sole indoor observation deck, offers panoramic views from the International Commerce Centre, the tallest building in the city. This post shares our experiences and impressions of this skyscraper for those considering a visit.

How to get to Sky 100 Hong Kong Observation Deck, ICC:

Sky100  (opened on 17th April 2011) is located on the 100th floor of the 118-storey International Commerce Centre (ICC), right above West Kowloon Station of Tung Chung Line and Airport Express. At 484 meters high, this supertall skyscraper is not only the tallest building in the city but also one of the tallest in the world (world’s 13th tallest building by height). With the MTR stations (Kowloon and Austin) just nearby, getting there is super convenient too.

From 2nd floor Metal Zone at ELEMENTS mall, access a direct walkway leading into sky100. Simply look for the signs along the way. We went from Central HK to Kowloon station (MTR Tung Chung Line). Just take Exit C of the Kowloon station to reach sky100 for stunning views of Hong Kong. Visit their official website for more information!

Things to do at Sky 100 Hong Kong Observation Deck (Review + My Experience):

A recent visit by a friend prompted me to publish this post with the latest information. While the core experience remains unchanged, there are a few notable additions, which I’ll discuss in more detail below. Given my reputation for procrastination, I decided to share these updates promptly 😛.

Sky 100 Hong Kong Entrance + Elevator Display

Getting to Sky100 is an experience on its own. You’ll be shooting up to the 100th floor in just 60 seconds, thanks to the fastest double-deck elevator in the city. Yup, you read that right! In just one minute, we were at a staggering 393 meters above sea level! About 15 passengers can fit into an elevator. Also, the elevator display is so cool! It shows beautiful sky views with weather report and timings.

I made my way to the 100th floor at Sky100, and let me tell you, the view is breathtaking! From this height, you’ll get an unbeatable, unobstructed look at Hong Kong like you’ve never seen before. Victoria Harbour, the bustling streets, and all those iconic skyscrapers, this is your chance to see it all, day or night comfortably from the deck regardless of weather. Honestly, I dislike Hong Kong’s humid and unpredictable weather 😕!

The 360-degree views are perfect for capturing that picture-perfect shot. And, by the way, if you’re in the mood for a professional touch, you can ask for photographers right on deck to snap some memories for you. Also, this place has lovely seating arrangements and photo ops, so no worries. You’ll definitely get some wonderful snaps of yours or family! We are not professional photographers yet I believe my husband  and I captured a few great shots of the city and ourselves 😀!

But it’s not just about the views. It has some cool interactive experiences too! There’s a multimedia story wall that shares fun facts and local tales, plus a Sky High Tech Zone where you can dive into virtual reality experiences that make you feel like you’re literally floating in the air. Also, don’t forget to try the AR Fun Photo feature,  glide over the Hong Kong skyline without ever leaving the deck 😉!

Cafe 100 by Ritz Carlton – a great spot

Now, if you need a break from all that exploring, head over to Café 100 by The Ritz-Carlton. Whether you’re grabbing a quick snack, planning a birthday bash, or having a romantic dinner while watching the sunset over the harbour, this spot is great for its food  and views ❤️.

And speaking of sunsets, Sky100 transforms into something truly magical in the evening. As the sun dips below the horizon, the “Love is in the Sky” light show takes over, with twinkling lights set against the famous Hong Kong nightscape. You can also watch the ‘Symphony of lights’ show from this place. If you ask me, visiting around 4 PM is the sweet spot as you get the best of both day and night views, without the midday sun glaring in your photos.

This Observation Deck visit last approx 60 minutes. We stayed there for around 2 hours because we already booked our anniversary lunch date at a nearby restaurant. Next time, I’ll be staying until it closes just to get those scenic night views of the harbour.
