My Experience With Palmer’s Shine Therapy Shampoo:
Palmer’s haircare range includes Coconut Oil Formula, Olive Oil Formula, Cocoa Butter Formula, and Amino Bonding Complex Formula. I have dull, frizzy hair with an oily itchy scalp, so this Olive Oil Formula range seemed perfect for me. I’ve been using their body care products for the past few years, so I thought I’d try out their hair products this time!
I haven’t yet crossed 40, but already 80% of my hair has turned white (thanks to my genes) ☹️. So, I dye my hair at home with natural henna once a month, which has eventually made my hair lackluster and dry. I prefer using moisturizing shampoos that can tame my frizzy hair and add volume to my limp tresses.

Packaging:
This shampoo comes in a tall 400ml plastic bottle with a flip-top cap. The packaging includes all the necessary product details, including the ingredients. However, it’s quite large and not travel-friendly. You could transfer the contents into a smaller bottle for trips! I do wish the packaging were more convenient, as getting the product out is a hassle every time.
Texture:
Palmer’s Shine Therapy Shampoo has a white, smooth, creamy texture with a medium-thick consistency. It has a strong artificial scent, similar to TRESemmé or L’Oréal shampoos.

How Do I Use It:
To cleanse my dry scalp and hair, I squeeze a generous amount of shampoo into a mug, mix it with a little water, and then apply it directly to my wet hair. Using a soft, silicone scalp massager, I gently massage my scalp for about a minute before rinsing the shampoo off.

How does it work?
As a shampoo, it cleanses the scalp and hair efficiently without stripping the natural oils from my scalp. Upon application, it produces a rich foam despite being sulphate-free, which is awesome! I usually wash my hair twice a week and follow it up with a moisturizing conditioner.
On my ‘oil routine’ days, I can easily skip the conditioner, as this Shine Therapy Shampoo is quite nourishing. Blended with Jamaican black castor oil and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, it leaves my hair soft, smooth, and completely frizz-free! However, to eliminate oiliness and product build-up, I always double-cleanse my tresses.
On other days, I simply wash my hair with this shampoo once, followed by conditioner. Whether I use conditioner or not, Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Shine Therapy Shampoo works well for my dry hair and oily scalp. My hair looks and feels fantastic after each use! I have an itchy, oily scalp and found this shampoo excellent at managing hair dryness, frizz, and scalp irritation.

I also dye my grey hair at home, and thankfully, this shampoo doesn’t contain harsh detergents or nasty ingredients. It’s completely gentle (ideal for sensitive skin and scalp) and color-safe! If you have colored hair, always try to use SLS-free shampoos. I only wish it could add more volume or bounce to my hair, but that’s fine. As long as my dry tresses look smooth without being flat, I’m happy.
Now, if you’re wondering about the hair fall issue, let me explain. I have PCOS, so hair fall is just part of my life now. Honestly, no shampoo can stop hair fall for anyone. However, I did notice less hair fall in the shower while using this. Plus, since it keeps my hair nourished and tangle-free, there’s less chance of hair breakage too 🙂!
Things I like about it (pros):
- It’s a gentle cleanser
- Effortlessly lifts away dirt and product build-up without stripping natural oils
- Helps minimize tangles and frizz
- Maintains the hair’s moisture balance
- Leaves hair feeling soft, smooth, and shiny
- Sulphate-free and color-safe
- Works wonders for a dry, itchy scalp
- Ideal for dry hair
- A little goes a long way—lasts a long time
- Readily available (Online & at the superstores)
- Very reasonably priced
Things I dislike about it (cons):
- The packaging is inconvenient to use
- Contains PARFUM (a strong artificial fragrance), some may find it bothersome
- Not travel-friendly due to its size
- Doesn’t add much volume to the hair
Rating:
4.7/5

Conclusion:
Overall,
I’m pleased with Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Shine Therapy Shampoo for my dull, dry scalp and frizzy hair. Aside from the packaging and the overpowering fragrance, I like everything about this gentle hair care product! Being SLS-free, it helps retain my hair color for a good number of days. Plus, it makes my dry, frizzy tresses softer, smoother, and more manageable ❤️.

If you’re searching for an affordable, drugstore shampoo for color-treated, frizzy, dry hair and scalp, I highly recommend giving this moisturizing shampoo a try 😍!
Highly recommend it!
