My Experience with The Body Shop Hemp Heavy-duty Face Protector (Review):

(Skin type – combination -dry, sensitive, acne-prone)

The Body Shop frequently updates its product designs and formulations. So, the cream I received as a PR sample doesn’t match this year’s version in terms of name, appearance and ingredients. Nevertheless, I’ve been using this moisturizer for the past few months and have almost emptied the container. Before I add it to my ‘product empties’ article, I thought I’d share my experience with you all. If you’re on the lookout for a new face cream for dry skin, keep reading!

Product Packaging:

This Hemp Face Protector comes in a small, 50 ml green-colored recycled plastic tub with a secure lid. All product-related information is printed on the packaging. It’s also travel-friendly.

Product Texture:

The Body Shop’s Hemp Heavy-Duty Face Protector is off-white and has a smooth, velvety texture with a thick consistency. It has a mild, herbal fragrance.

How I use it:

I take a generous amount of this face cream and apply it evenly to my cleansed and toned face and neck in a gentle, upward motion.

How does it work (performance):

Don’t be misled by the name ‘heavy-duty’ moisturizer, as it feels super light on the skin upon application. No matter how much you apply, it absorbs quickly without leaving any sticky or greasy residue! I also appreciate that it doesn’t have a strong aroma.

During my last trip to India in April (Indian summer), I used this hemp moisturizer for my evening long-haul flight from the UK. Typically, my skin feels tight and rough on planes, but this kept my dry skin nourished and plump throughout the journey until I arrived in Pune the next day.

Since this Hemp Face Protector doesn’t contain sunscreen, you can use it anytime, day or night. I’ve used it in both summer and winter, and I found it more effective in summer than in winter.

In winter, my skin becomes extremely dry. This moisturizer works great when paired with my hydrating face mist and serum in colder weather. In the summer, I could easily skip the serums and mists. Either way, it leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Many of you know I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, so I was concerned about a particular pore-clogging ingredient—Myristyl Myristate, an emollient with a high comedogenicity index (5). Fortunately, I’ve had no skin issues (irritation or breakouts) with The Body Shop’s Hemp Face Cream so far ❤️.

What I like about it/Pros:

Nourishing formula
Has a mild scent
Keeps skin hydrated for a good amount of time
Non-greasy moisturizer
No breakouts
No irritation
Good for dry skin; great for normal -combination skin
Vegan
Cruelty-free

What I dislike about it/Cons

Contains Fragrance and Myristyl Myristate 😕.

To sum up,

The Body Shop’s Hemp Heavy-Duty Face Protector is a lovely, hydrating, yet lightweight, alcohol-free, vegan moisturizer enriched with pro-vitamin B5 and Vitamin E, making it ideal for sensitive, dry, and acne-prone skin. For those with extremely dry skin, I recommend pairing this face cream with nourishing serums and mists, and you’re good to go!
