My Experience With The Body Shop® Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Face Mask:
(My skin type is – Combination, sensitive, dehydrated & acne-prone)
I received this face mask as a PR sample from the brand a year ago. As a face mask lover, I was excited to give it a try. But as I have super sensitive skin, I was apprehensive about its effect. After using it for the past year, I am ready to share my views with you now.
Product Packaging:
The Body Shop® Himalayan charcoal face mask comes in 15 ml and 75 ml containers. I got the small 15ml plastic pot. You can find all the product-related details on the packaging itself. The lid is sturdy, so you can easily toss it in your travel or handbag.
Product Texture:
The Body Shop® Himalayan purifying charcoal glow clay mask has a brown colored mud-texture with a thick yet smooth paste consistency. The face pack has bits of tiny green tea leaves and a strong (tea tree oil) fragrance.

How I use and how often should you use The Body Shop® Himalayan purifying charcoal mask?
Before applying this clay face mask, I always try to do the steam facial so it opens up my pores and prepare it for a deep cleansing experience. If I don’t have much time, I simply cleanse my face with a purifying face wash. Then I take a good amount of this bamboo charcoal clay mask and slather it nicely across my face and neck. It is always best to use a face mask brush to apply the pack for an even layer, but I use my fingers most of the time.
I use purifying and exfoliating face masks once a week in the summer and once a month during the cold seasons, as my combination skin becomes super dry in the winter. Also, I prefer applying face masks at night because that’s the time when I use all my heavy-duty moisturizers to nourish my skin.
How long do you keep The Body Shop® Himalayan charcoal mask on for?
I keep the masks (any face pack) on my skin for 10-15 minutes. However, since The Body Shop purifying glow clay mask has charcoal in it and my skin slightly leans towards dryness, I keep it only for 10 minutes. Kindly note 5-10 minutes time period is enough for the mask to absorb all the toxins off your facial skin! I rinse it off with water afterward.
What to apply after removing The Body Shop® charcoal glow mask?
After removing this purifying charcoal glow mask, I spray a hydrating face mist all over my face and neck. Then I apply a hydrating serum followed by a heavy-duty non-comedogenic moisturizer (that won’t clog pores) to nourish my skin. Sometimes, I finish my skincare routine with a facial oil or sheet mask. Umm, my skin feels so good afterward!

What does The Body Shop® Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask do?
When you apply The Body Shop® Himalayan Charcoal clay mask, it looks taupe colored on the skin, but when it dries, it turns grey! True to its claim, upon application, this clay mask gives a cooling sensation with an intense tingling (like menthol) feeling to the skin. It’s a temporary feel, though!
This face mask is easy to spread across the skin, and it dries quickly. Hence, my 10 minutes *face masking* time period is perfect for this clay face pack! I exert gentle pressure in circular motion while rinsing with water so it doubles as a scrub. The gritty texture of this Himalayan bamboo charcoal face mask helps exfoliate the skin well. Post-washing, my face looks clean, clear, and smooth. I love its strong, refreshing scent and the refreshing effect.
The prime ingredient of this clay mask is Kaolin clay which is a great absorbent and can zap excess sebum & gunk off the skin. It’s also gentler than Bentonite clay in terms of dryness, making it a good option for dry, sensitive skin people like me. The presence of other skin-soothing ingredients like green tea leaves, aloe vera, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, and shea butter make this purifying charcoal glow face mask a stellar product.
I don’t have open-pore issues that much. This mask neither irritated my skin nor did it cause acne/blemishes. My motive behind using exfoliating and purifying face masks (like this one) is to achieve a clean and fresh-looking skin. And suffice it to say I am highly impressed with this Himalayan Charcoal purifying glow mask. Now I know why this charcoal mask is The Body Shop brand’s best-selling face mask 😍!
