REVIEW: Celestial Evolution Drone Light Show, Northampton

We recently had the opportunity to witness a dazzling spectacle in the night sky in Northampton, and it was truly epic! On 15th February, Yuup, in collaboration with Celestial, hosted The Evolution Drone Light Show at the cinch Stadium in Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton. Keep reading to find out more about this incredible event!

Celestial Evolution Drone Light Show Review:

Getting There and Setting the Scene:

Many of you know that I live in Milton Keynes, so it took us about 30 minutes to reach the venue by Uber. We arrived at Car Park D a bit early because it was a rainy day, and to be honest, I was concerned about whether the event would go ahead. I hate it when a pre-planned event gets canceled 😞!

Live Music Performance at Drone Light Show, Northampton

Fortunately, the program started on time at 5:30 pm with a live music performance by The Tom Betts Band, a well-known local band from Northampton. The lead singer’s voice was absolutely amazing! He sang several popular English songs, and we visitors swayed along.  Well, just a little. I say a little because hardly anyone moved their hands from their pockets, thanks to the ridiculously chilly weather 🙃! Had it been summer, I bet everyone would have raised their hands and fully vibed with the band. This was our first time listening to The Tom Betts Band, and we thoroughly enjoyed their performance.

Food, Fun, and Fairgrounds:

With the drone show scheduled for 7 pm, I took advantage of the musical interlude to explore the venue because I was hungry. The event organizers had set up a food village with a variety of local vendors selling burgers, seasonal drinks, fries, chicken wraps, and more! We treated ourselves to burgers and fries, the perfect event food 😋!

The third image displays a food stall with a triangular roof and a partially readable sign. The fourth image features a 'GREEK' food stall with people standing and walking in front of the stalls, enjoying the lively atmosphere.

There were also a few fairground rides for kids and adults alike. However, since we’re neither kids nor adventure enthusiasts, rides aren’t our thing! Honestly, this part of the venue was filled with adorable little ones and their parents .

The rides include a hot air balloon-themed attraction, a large swinging ride, and other brightly lit amusement rides with people enjoying the event.

By the time the drone show started, the venue was packed, and the temperature had dropped even further 😕.

The Main Event: A Stellar Story of Evolution

The main highlight of the event was, of course, the drone show-a breathtaking 25-minute spectacle (plus a pre-show!). Watching the story of life unfold through this dazzling display of lights and music was truly unforgettable. The drones illustrated the journey of evolution, from the Big Bang and single-cell organisms to dinosaurs and, finally, us. It was absolutely mesmerizing 🤩! More than 600 animated drones created stunning visuals in the night sky, accompanied by a powerful cinematic soundtrack and narration, adding another layer of depth to the experience.

The formations include a butterfly, a circular pattern, a heart, a dandelion, a dolphin, a snail, a dinosaur, a mask, a beetle, a hand, a human figure, and a frog. Each formation is composed of numerous illuminated drones creating intricate and visually stunning designs.

This was our first-ever drone show experience, and it completely blew us away! I was so engrossed in the beautiful and thought-provoking display that I barely noticed my hands going numb while filming it 😭.

Post-Show and Parting Thoughts:

The drone show ended at 7:30 pm, and the live music by The Tom Betts Band resumed. The event also featured a DJ Live scheduled for 8:30 pm. However, like many other visitors, we left the venue after the drone show. My husband, much like my father, prefers not to be out late with the family outside of our local area 🥺.
