My Experience With The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser (Review):
(Skin Type – Combination, acne-prone & Sensitive)
I’ve been using this moisturizer for the past year. And now, after trying it out during both the summer and winter seasons, I feel it’s finally the right time to share my thoughts with you all. I’ve also used the Vitamin C Exfoliating Toner from the brand’s Glow range and loved it! You can read its review [here].
Product Packaging:
The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser comes in a dark green glass jar with a metallic silver screw-top lid. The label is mostly white with a pop of orange & green. All key product information is printed on the packaging, including the ingredients list, which is tucked underneath the bottom label.

It’s travel-friendly if packed securely, or you can just scoop a bit into a small travel-sized container for your trips.
Product Texture:
The Body Shop Vitamin C glow boosting moisturiser has a light, smooth, translucent, gel texture. This face cream has a pale, peachy-orange or light apricot colour, and true to its Vitamin C theme, it has a strong citrus fragrance.

Product Performance:
You only need a small amount of this glow-boosting moisturiser to hydrate your skin. If you have dry skin, I’d suggest layering it over a hydrating serum. If your skin is oily, you can probably skip that step altogether. It doesn’t specify whether it’s a day or night cream, so you can use it anytime.
I have combination-to-dry skin that turns super sweaty in summer and rough in winter. I apply a nice thin layer of this cream to my freshly cleansed face and neck. During colder months, I do need to prep with a hydrating mist and serum beforehand. So, I mostly reserve this gel moisturizer for summer.
The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser is enriched with lovely antioxidants and skin-brightening agents. Key ingredients include: 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Camu Camu Berry extract, Tocopherol, Malic Acid, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder. As you can see, it’s packed with skin-loving, nourishing, and soothing ingredients.
But, is it truly effective?
Yes, it’s an effective gel-based moisturizer that hydrates the skin without leaving behind greasy residue. It sinks in quickly and leaves a soft, matte finish, which is exactly what we want in the hot summer months! My skin feels softer, brighter, and more radiant after each use. It keeps my skin moisturized for a good period of time. But during winter, I do have to reapply it!
Also, can we talk about that citrusy scent? It’s so refreshing and really lifts your mood. I honestly love The Body Shop’s citrus-scented products, especially their Satsuma Shower Gel and Exfoliating Facial Toner.

I even used this vegan moisturizer during a sudden acne flare-up last year, and it worked beautifully to soothe and calm my irritated skin while keeping it hydrated. This Vitamin C glow boosting gel moisturiser didn’t irritate my sensitive skin or cause breakouts, which I’m so thankful for!
However, I do feel that the concentration of nourishing ingredients like Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate might be on the lower side. That’s probably why it doesn’t feel as hydrating as I’d hoped. Still, because it keeps my skin sweat-free, matte, and glowing in hot weather, it has officially become my go-to summer moisturizer 😍.
One small gripe 👉🏻 I don’t use it under foundation, as it contains oils. And unfortunately, oil-based moisturizers don’t sit well with my current foundations (MAC and Estée Lauder). They tend to mess up my base. So, I stick to oil-free options when I’m wearing makeup.
I can’t comment on how this face cream performs with foundation or concealer. But overall, I’d say, it lives up to most of its claims!
