My Experience With The Body Shop Moringa Shampoo & Conditioner:

[My hair type – Type 1C, Dull, dry hair ends with an oily scalp]

My hair is now dandruff-free, so these days, I only buy hydrating shampoos and conditioners for my tresses. Whoa, what a relief, to be honest! I’m scared of dandruff, but The Body Shop Ginger Shampoo and Nizoral helped me immensely in getting rid of this pesky stuff.

I also have a habit of stocking up on products, especially shower gels and shampoos, because we run out of them more quickly than other products. So, if you see that some products are no longer available, just know that I bought them a long time ago but shared my reviews later, as always. Haha!

Product Packaging:

Both the shampoo and conditioner come in dark green recyclable plastic bottles with flip-top caps. You can find all the important information about the products on the packaging. They’re travel-friendly, but I prefer transferring the contents into smaller, travel-sized bottles for safety and convenience.

Product Texture:

The Body Shop Moringa Shampoo has a transparent gel texture and a lovely scent.

The Moringa Conditioner has a thick, white, creamy texture with a similar herbal fragrance.

How Does It Work (Performance details):

One of the key ingredients in both the shampoo and conditioner is moringa. Moringa is a superfood and a staple vegetable in many Indian recipes. I eat moringa drumsticks every day with my lentil soup. You can also try moringa powder! It has various health and beauty benefits, so I decided to try this range from The Body Shop. You can read more about moringa on my blog here.

Now, I have thin, lackluster hair and struggle with hair loss. I also dye my hair with henna at home, which has somehow made it very rough and dull. That’s why I’ve incorporated more nourishing, color-safe hair care products into my routine.

The Body Shop Moringa Shine & Protection Shampoo and Conditioner promise to help protect hair and bring dull locks back to life. But do they live up to their claims? Let’s find out!

You only need a small amount of the Moringa Shampoo to cleanse your hair. I follow the double-cleansing method, so I use a generous amount of shampoo during the second wash and gently massage it into my scalp. I wait a few seconds to give it time to work its cleansing magic, then rinse my tresses with water at room temperature or slightly warmer.

Usually, moringa leaves and drumsticks don’t smell particularly good, but thanks to the added fragrance, the scent of this shampoo isn’t bothersome.

Sometimes, I use two different shampoos during my hair-washing routine. My first shampoo is usually a keratin-based shampoo, a scalp scrub shampoo, or Nizoral (not for dandruff! I’ll talk about this one in another post). The Moringa Shine & Protection Shampoo is my second step in my hair-washing ritual.

The Body Shop Moringa Shine & Protection Shampoo and Conditioner

The Body Shop Moringa Shampoo cleanses my hair amazingly well, leaving my scalp and hair feeling clean, fresh, and bouncy without weighing my hair down. However, it didn’t help with my hair fall, although, to be honest, I didn’t expect it to.

However, the shampoo contains SLS (sodium laureth sulfate), which I don’t consider a hair-friendly ingredient for color-treated hair. After just one or two washes with an SLS-based shampoo, my gray hairs start popping up around my crown! Because of this, I use the Moringa Shampoo only a couple of times a month rather than regularly.

On the flip side, if you want to fade your hair color faster, using SLS-based cleansers more often might help. Haha 😄!

The Body Shop Moringa Conditioner has a creamy texture that glides smoothly over my hair strands. You can adjust the amount you use depending on your hair’s needs. I use a generous amount of conditioner and apply it to the ends of my hair, avoiding the scalp.

All my hair conditioners last longer than my shampoos, and this one is no exception. Just like shampoos, I rotate my conditioners, too! Perhaps that’s one reason they last so long. What about you?

Besides moringa seed oil, this conditioner is infused with shea butter and coconut oil, so you can imagine its nourishing potential. My hair feels smooth and soft after every use. The scent lingers for a while, too!

This vegan Moringa Shampoo and Conditioner duo works extremely well together, leaving my type 1C dull and damaged hair feeling clean, refreshed, and smooth. I didn’t notice the glossy finish I was hoping for, but the results were much better than I expected.

I hope The Body Shop revamps its hair cleansers and completely removes SLS/SLES from its products. I love the brand’s products and have been a loyal customer since 2015. I’d be super happy if the brand made this change in the future 🩷.

EE RATING:

Moringa Shampoo 👉🏻 4/5

Moringa Conditioner 👉🏻 4.5/5

CONCLUSION:

Overall,

The Body Shop Moringa Shine & Protection Shampoo and Conditioner, made with 93–96% naturally derived ingredients, are great hair care products for dry, dull hair. They’re hydrating and effective, and they do their jobs pretty well without drying out my scalp or hair.

Apart from the SLS issue, I love everything about the shampoo, and the conditioner has impressed me even more. If you’re looking for vegan hair care products to combat dullness and dryness, these are definitely worth checking out!
