How To Use NARS Jane Lipstick?
The brand says,
- For full coverage with one stroke, apply directly from the bullet or with the #30 Precision Lip Brush.
- To create a perfectly defined lip, apply Instant Line and Pore Perfector around the edge of the mouth and pat in. Apply Radiant Creamy concealer on top and blend. Line lips with Velvet Lip Liner and fill in. Finish with Audacious Lipstick.
My experience with NARS Jane Lipstick (Review & Swatches):

It is my first beauty product from the luxurious beauty brand, NARS. I was looking for a nice nude shade, creamy lipstick to match with my coral-colored dress. Now, this brand has such a great lipstick collection. I got confused! This shade Jane belongs to NARS Nude lipstick collection under Audacious range and is described as a full coverage nude lipstick. I was recommended this shade by a NARS consultant at the store. Apart from the lipstick, I also purchased their lip treatment, Bianca. I loved that SPF infused lip balm so much ❤️. Sadly, NARS has discontinued this product!

Packaging and Texture of NARS Audacious Jane Lipstick:
NARS Audacious lipstick, Jane comes in a classy black packaging with a magnetic cap. The outer carton features all the ingredient, price, and shelf-life details. The beautiful-shaped lipstick bullet has the brand name NARS embossed on it. Furthermore, the magnetic closure keeps the cap from coming off, making the product absolutely travel-friendly!
The brand has described the Jane shade as a “terracotta rose” shade. True to its name, Jane is a mix of dark orange & brown colors with warm undertones. It has a creamy formula and a satin finish. Upon application, the shade looks pretty warm brown, almost fiery coral color, on my pigmented lips.
How Does It Work? Does It Suit Dark Skin Tones?
Let’s begin with the goodie things about this lipstick.
NARS Audacious lipstick Jane shade is highly pigmented and has a luscious creamy texture with satin finish. It glides on the lips evenly and effortlessly, making my lips look plumper, fuller, and healthy.
The brand says micro-sized Lipid spheres together with Portulaca Extract, an ingredient known to plump and hydrate, help lips appear fuller, firmer, and more curvaceous. Tamanu Oil nourishes lips to smooth and soften. White Mushroom Extract, an ingredient known to have a brightening effect, helps lips gradually appear more even-toned and vibrant, even after removing lipstick.
Well, I can’t comment on the brightening part, but yes, this lipstick provides a plumping effect almost instantly post-application.
A few strokes of this lipstick provides the perfect coverage and color to the lips. It feels absolutely light and comfortable on the lips and stays for about 5-6 hours. I do need to reapply it after having a full meal, though!
I have dry, chapped, and pigmented lips. So, before applying this lipstick, I always nourish my lips with a hydrating lip balm. At times, I do use a nude lip liner to cover the lip pigmentation and enhance the lipstick shade. But it’s not required at all as Jane has a great color payoff.
This lipstick is not transfer-proof, but I’ve never experienced bleeding or feathering with this product.

Now, let’s talk about some not-so-good things!
Even though NARS audacious Jane lipstick has the smooth, creamy formula and skin-nourishing ingredients, my lips start feeling dry and flaky after a few hours. Besides, this tends to settle in the creases of my lips which annoys me the most! Mind you, I always exfoliate my lips and prep it before applying a lipstick. To reapply it later, I need to wipe off the lipstick completely using a wet wipe and then moisturize my lips again and apply the lipstick. If I reapply it without doing this hard work, then my lips would look patchy and ugly.
I find this shade amazing when I do full-face glam makeup. But if my face has no foundation or face powder and just this lipstick, then this shade never looks good on me! Instead, it makes my dusky skin look dull and darker! So, basically, this is not my everyday-wear shade 😐. (Note- My everyday makeup routine includes Bb cream/tinted moisturiser + Eye liner + Lip balm + lip liner/lipstick). I wear it only on special occasions with my coral/terracota colored outfits.It looks great on me in photos and videos, though!😉😛
I feel this shade, Jane, is ideal for fair complexions with warm undertones. I believe on olive or tanned skin tones, this shade will look a bit orange-y. It doesn’t look bad on my medium dark skin tone but does not flatter it either 😞! But again, you never know! Try it at the store really well (probably at the day time) before you make a purchase.
The brand claims that it is non-drying, and upon application, it provides a soft matte finish to the lips. But my dry, chapped lips need to be prepped before using this particular lipstick. If you don’t have dry lips yet prefer creamy, satin finish lipsticks, then you’ll definitely like this product 😍.

To sum up,
NARS Audacious lipstick Jane is a beautiful terracota lip color that will flatter beauties with light medium to fair complexions with warm undertones. The combination of both brown and dark orange colors makes Jane a hit or miss shade for persons with dark skin tones like me!
If you are looking for a terracotta, warm brown nude lipstick with a creamy texture, high coverage, lightweight formula, AND you don’t have super dry lips then NARS Audacious lipstick, Jane is meant for you!
Will I Repurchase This Jane Shade?
No way! I’m on the hunt for a nice, affordable nude lipstick now. I have way too many brown lipsticks in my beauty stash!

The color is pretty, but as someone who is pale as a ghost (hence my childhood nickname Casper), I don’t think it would work. Also, when you mention it isn’t good for dry lips, that was an immediate no for me since mine are always dry.
